A reflection on Movioca’s 10-year journey.
The year was 2010, the end of the Anima TV.
One of the selected projects was the animation “Miúda e o Guarda-Chuva” by Bahian authors Paula Lice and Victor Cayres (script) and Igor Souza (illustration and art direction), directed by Amadeu Alban and Jorge Alencar. This short film was later selected for the competitive exhibition of the Festival de Annecy, the most important animation festival in the world.
MIÚDA E O GUARDA-CHUVA (LONGA, 2019)
Therefore, Amadeu Alban was then able to participate in its first international market, MIFA. There were numerous meetings with international players. All that effervescence, more than helping to evolve the ““Miúda e o Guarda-Chuva”” project, made something change inside Amadeu.
There happened an awakening, a dream. That’s what he wanted to do. Create impactful content that travels the world. Movies and series.
Voltando ao Brasil, algum tempo depois isso se transformou em deixar a sociedade da antiga produtora e fundar o lugar que mais fazia sentido naquele momento.
This is how Movioca was born.
“Movi”, de movimento (motion). “Oca”, de casa (house).
A home to put ideas in motion.
At that time, Marcio Yatsuda met Amadeu and Movioca. Graduated in Applied Mathematics, he had never dreamed of making a film, and was in transition after a 22-year career working in IT.
The possible business model that audiovisual provided was irresistible: it seemed interesting enough for him to dedicate a lot of reading and many courses. Months later, Márcio joined Movioca as a partner.
Different reasons, but a common dream:
Creating a company that promoted the emergence of new ideas, a place where these ideas could be nurtured and developed, then transforming them into audiovisual products.

All it took was a blink and here we are, 10 years later.
There were many challenges, especially in the last 3 and a half years, when dreams were put to the test. It seems that this period served just that, to make sure that our dream is truly serious and that we are, more than ever, committed to it.
There were many achievements as well. From a short produced more than a decade ago, we produced the feature film “Miúda e o Guarda-Chuva” and soon we will have a series. We made documentaries, animations, fiction and reality shows. Many of these productions were awarded, and were seen in many countries around the world.
We are very proud to have, as you tell us, the first exported Brazilian reality show format – versions of “Drag Me as a Queen” were produced in Holland and Germany under the name “The Diva in Me”.
These 10 years were built by many hands, many hearts and a lot of dedication. People who worked on projects with us, who were part of our teams. People from whom we could learn a lot, and I hope they could have learned something from us as well. Many of these people have followed their paths, and many are still in our house. Many authors and technical and artistic talents gave soul and body to the projects. Many players and partners that made the realization of these works possible. Our eternal gratitude to each and every one of them.
Renewed, committed and passionate about transforming dreams into audiovisual, we believe that audiovisual transforms lives. May our house be in movement and open doors for those who want to dream together and transform together!
We look forward to the next 10 years. With all its challenges, accomplishments and people. May we make many opportunities meet dreams. Or vice versa.
